Why should I coupon shop?
To help you answer this question for yourself, let me start out explaining why I coupon shop. It started a couple years ago when I joined a site called Cafemom and was a member of the group Deals and Steals. It was so exciting to see all the deals and freebies that were being posted. And it was even more exciting when my mailbox would have little surprises in it for me - for free! I started out small with signing up for free samples on Wal-Mart's website and then realized: there were so many more sites out there and so many more deals! And that is when I discovered printable coupons!
I could search the internet and actually find coupons for the products I use? COOL! Not only can I get coupons in the Sunday paper, but I can print my own at home? Even more cool! I started using the coupons at the store.. and the rest is history. I now have a weekly grocery bill that is slashed by half, based on what I learned about couponing! I've determined I want to take it one step further and help the people that want to save big at the register and it's not just the grocery store register, either.
I don't have the time to coupon shop!
I understand how coupon shopping can sound time consuming. It sounds like one extra step in trying to save money, and it's a step that you think you don't have time for. That's why I'm here to help! How do I get started?
I would personally start out with printed coupons. There are several printable coupon sites that you can use (my favorites are: Coupons.com RedPlum.com SmartSource.com and CouponBug.com). You can check out my store guide which includes helpful hints and tips for each store. There are many different ways to organize your coupons. You just have to find what works best for you. For some a simple envelope will do. For others (like myself) a zipper binder with baseball card organizer pages and tabbed sections will keep you organized where coupons are easily accessible and visible.
The reason I say start with printed coupons is because I find that printed coupons are usually a higher value than the coupons you get in the Sunday paper. If you do not receive the Sunday paper you can pick and choose which weeks you buy the paper ahead of time by checking out the Sunday coupon preview. This preview will be posted weekly!
